Mentoring
Spending consistent time with young ladies on a one to one basis has provided me with
more joy than I could have imagined. To see a young girl begin to find out that she
is capable of far more than she thought, to watch her find out that she is lovable and
special in her own right, to see her excitement when she decides to get good grades
and actually gets A's and B's, is beyond describing.
When I first started mentoring, I was not sure how to go about it. I didn't know what
to expect and I sure didn't know how or what we would do for a few hours every week.
And now I can’t imagine what my week would be like without spending time as a mentor,
from going out to get a bite to eat, or maybe the movies or a trip to the library---we
have never run out of things to do. Help with school work if needed, or just spending
time talking while doing errands or chores together have been favorites.
I am excited about helping anyone who is interested in being a mentor or volunteer.
If you are a mentor, I will be having a monthly gathering at my house to talk about
any ideas or concerns, and provide a support group for mentors. If you are interested
in becoming a mentor, please contact me at 678-575-7112. or call Keyana at Jesse's House,
678-947-6217.
